Families pay too much for child care in this country. For just one child, U.S. families fork out between 9% to 16% of their median income. Combined with the costs of housing and groceries, this is squeezing US families to the breaking point. At the same time, daycare workers are some of the lowest paid and most underappreciated workers. They can't make a living doing one of the most important jobs in the world: caring for future generations.

I pledge to make free, high-quality childcare a priority. To make sure that it is high-quality we will pay all daycare workers a living wage so that we can recruit and retain the best caregivers around - our children deserve it! This will put billions - literally billions - of dollars back in working families' pockets so that they can afford their basic necessities, invest in their home, and save for their children's future.
